There are many different opinions when it comes to drinking while pregnant, but here there are facts rather than just anecdotal evidence or old wives tales (or scaremongering!). Many of my pregnant friends like to get dressed up in their prettier maternity clothes and go out in the evening, but nearly all of them wouldn't dare to have a drinkKirstyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07066343279006452317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841910768079015534.post-82304429503203486302013-12-25T12:32:04.695+00:002013-12-25T12:32:04.695+00:00Article contains so many fruitful information whic...Article contains so many fruitful information which will be liked by the readers as in my opinion this is the best article in this category.
Obgyn mountain view, ca
Obgyn mountain view, cahttp://doctorazad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841910768079015534.post-75672925172391174592012-11-22T12:20:22.146+00:002012-11-22T12:20:22.146+00:00Thanks for recommendations on stats books. New York and Hove: Routledge.

and for R-users, Andy Field's recent Discovering Statistics with R is v. comprehensive and does go into robust methods.

Overall, I would encourage anyone using stats to learn R so you can readily simulate data sets, allowing you to explore what your analysis does when confronted with random data.

Nicole/Anonymous: I can't stress enough that there is a huge gulf between foetal alcohol syndrome and the phenomena discussed by Lewis et al. The mean IQ of the children of drinking mothers was slightly above 100 - there was no indication of clinically significant developmental problems in this group. deevybeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15118040887173718391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841910768079015534.post-38627927245227276132012-11-22T02:39:41.752+00:002012-11-22T02:39:41.752+00:00This blog post was very interesting because we hav...This blog post was very interesting because we have always been taught that any alcohol in a women's system can cause problems with her fetus such as fetal alcohol syndrome. It seems though that to be safe most women would purge themselves of drinking at all for 9 months just to be safe because as we know some of these stats can not be considered for all women because they are all different. I never knew such high number of women even considered consming alcohol while pregnant. I am a firm believer that even the slightest bit of alcohol consumption can cause problems to the development during infancy. Consuming extreme levels of alcohol can be very damaging to psychical development. In chapter 9 it discusses common times for infants to begin walking and talking. It states "infants begin crawling at around 7 to 8 months their view of the world including distant objects will be as clear as that of their parents." With that being said, hypothetically speaking lets say a child is born with feotal alcohol syndrome, that baby will have defects to physical appearence, and will absolutely have defects in social and personality development. Babies that are born with feotal alcohol syndrome are slower by a lot. In a pannel discussion seminar I attended in october about mental illnesses, one of the pannelists had a daughter with feotal alcohol syndrom and she is now in her upper 20's early 30's and acts like a 4 year old. luckily she looks normal on the outside but is just slow. The brain development does not grow like other peoples does. In chapter 9 we discussed that just after 3 weeks of conception a sheet of primitive nueral cells have been formed. The nueral cells curl and form a tube like shape this nueral tube is lined with stem cells stem cells are cells that can divide indefinitely renew themselves and give rise to a variety of other types of cells. In a way I know that can be kind of confusing but if these cells are damaged because of alcohol your baby has a high risk of having physical, social, and personality development problems. That is why it is very dangerous to consume alcohol while pregnant or trying to get pregnant.Nicole Solomonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841910768079015534.post-78506746031352391082012-11-21T17:08:52.052+00:002012-11-21T17:08:52.052+00:00Interesting. I didn't know about this issue & want to be sure I'm doing my stats right. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
